“Unnecessary and irresponsible speculations are being made regarding the CDF notification: Khawaja Asif

Web Desk: Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that the notification regarding the appointment of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) will be issued “at the scheduled time” and the process has already begun.
According to details, Khawaja Asif posted on the social media platform X:
“Unnecessary and irresponsible speculations are being made regarding the CDF notification. The Prime Minister will be back soon. The notification will be issued at the scheduled time.”
There is unnecessary and irresponsible speculation about CDF notification. Please be informed that the process has been initiated. PM is returning shortly. Notification will be issued in due course of time. No room for any conjecturing. Period!

It is worth noting that the position of CDF, established under the 27th Constitutional Amendment, will replace the post of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), which was officially abolished on November 27.
This will be a dual post, merged with the position of Army Chief.
It is also noted that Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir took charge of the Army Chief position in November 2022, with a term of three years. After the amendment, the tenure of the heads of all three armed forces has been extended to five years.
