Minister-designate Asad Khokhar's brother killed in shooting at wedding ceremony

Police arrested the suspect identified as Nazim of Manawala. Police said the firing incident took place at the time Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar was leaving the venue in Phase 7 of Defence C.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr Shahbaz Gill, in a tweet, said the attackers committed firing near the CM's vehicle and later the CM's security personnel immediately overpowered the suspect.

He further said in the tweet that the chief minister is perfectly alright. 

The injured was transported to a near-by hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.  

Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has sought report from the Punjab police chief and ordered high-profile investigation into the incident.

He also ordered to hold inquiry into the security arrangements and those responsible for security lapses be taken to task.

Preliminary police investigations are hinting at personal enmity.

Suspect Nazim, in his initial statement to the police, said he had killed Mubashir Khokhar to avenge his (Nazim)'s patenral uncle's murder.
