Nine killed, child hurt after avalanche hit house in Chitral

Chitral: At least nine people were killed after an avalanche struck a house in the Domel area of Chitral.

According to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Chitral, the avalanche hit a residential house, leaving nine people dead and one child injured. The deceased include four women and five men, and their bodies have been recovered.

Meanwhile, in Tirah Valley of Khyber district, a rescue operation is under way to relocate internally displaced persons (IDPs) stranded due to recent heavy snowfall.

Deputy Commissioner Khyber Bilal Shahid said that timely measures taken under the supervision of the district administration ensured that all affected families were moved to safety.
