First National Chief of Army Staff Wrestling Championship 2026 concludes in Sialkot

Sialkot: The first National Chief of Army Staff Wrestling Championship 2026 concluded successfully in Sialkot, with Under-17 and Under-19 competitions drawing enthusiastic participation from across the country.
The Gujranwala team “Sher Punjab” emerged as overall champions, while Peshawar’s “Khyber Fighters” secured second position.
The General Officer Commanding, who attended as chief guest, distributed medals and prizes among the winning athletes.
For the first time in the country’s history, the inclusion of Under-17 and Under-19 categories at the national level marks a positive step towards the promotion of sports.
A large crowd, including district, divisional and provincial-level champion wrestlers as well as members of the public, attended the final at Sialkot Sports Stadium.
The wrestlers expressed gratitude for the Pakistan Army’s talent promotion initiatives and appreciated the successful organisation of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the athletes said they were deeply thankful to the military leadership for holding a successful championship.
They expressed hope that the Pakistan Army would continue to provide international opportunities to emerging talent.
The organisation of the event under the auspices of the Pakistan Army is seen as clear evidence of efforts to promote sports and nurture young talent in the country.
