PIA withdraws discounts, suspends several flight routes amid jet fuel price hike
During the meeting, PIA decided in principle to eliminate all discounts; however, concessions for children and infants will continue

Islamabad: Due to the persistent rise in jet fuel prices, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has taken major administrative decisions, including the withdrawal of discounts and the suspension of several international routes.
In this regard, a high-level meeting was held at PIA on Monday, where a plan was devised to address rising costs and potential financial losses.
During the meeting, PIA decided in principle to eliminate all discounts; however, concessions for children and infants will continue.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the airline has announced the suspension of its flights to Beijing and Kuala Lumpur starting from April 11 and April 14, respectively. Additionally, flights to Gulf countries (except the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia) are being suspended until the end of April.
The spokesperson added that flight operations to the United Arab Emirates will be reduced to 16 weekly flights.
The PIA management took these decisions in light of the fourth consecutive increase in jet fuel prices.
The spokesperson further stated that the entire burden of rising fuel costs cannot be passed on to passengers; therefore, some tough administrative measures have been implemented. It is hoped that international fuel prices will soon return to normal levels, after which all affected routes will be restored.
