RAWALPINDI -- General Syed Aamir Raza has formally assumed command as Commander National Strategic Command, where he was presented with a guard of honour, according to the military's media wing.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Gen Raza laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs' Monument and offered Fateha for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation.
He also called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ). During the meeting, the field marshal congratulated Gen Raza on assuming his new command and extended his best wishes, the ISPR added.
Two days earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif promoted then Chief of General Staff Lt Gen Aamir Raza to the rank of four-star general and appointed him as Commander National Strategic Command.
