Walks, rallies held countrywide to express solidarity with Kashmiris

LAHORE -- Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir was observed today to express support for Kashmiri people's right to self-determination and to condemn India's illegal and unilateral action of August 5, 2019.   

It was on this day in 2019 that India unilaterally and illegally stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its special status, the action which has since then been rejected by the international community, Kashmiris and Pakistanis alike.     

Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir was also observed across Punjab with various events to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

A one-minute silence was observed at 9:00 in the morning, while Pakistan and Kashmir flags were hoisted at important public buildings.

The main ceremony was held at Alhamra Hall, Lahore, where a special photo exhibition was also organized, followed by a solidarity walk for the Kashmiri people.

Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir was also observed in Sindh like other parts of the country.

A main rally in this regard, led by Senior Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani, was taken out from People's Chowrangi to Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the main rally was taken out from the Governor's House in Peshawar this morning.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi led the walk, which was joined by a large number of people from all walks of life.

In Quetta, various events were also organized to mark the day.
