Karachi: Amidst the third spell of rain, major parts of the metropolitan city have been facing electricity breakdown.


The Karachi Electric Supply Company (K-electric) failed to keep the energy system of Karachi intact. The repercussions of the fragile supply line of K-electric have been faced by the natives of the city.
Downpour took a toll on the daily life of people as roads are inundated. Heavy traffic jams took many hours to ease things up.
Murtaza Wahab, the Administrator of Karachi, visited different areas and overlooked the alleviation work.
The Administration of the city is on the roads to help citizens. Shoaib Malik, Administrator East, noted that we will keep on providing relief work.
Karachi traffic police transmitted the message through their radio channel for the travellers to take alternative routes.
As per the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD), maximum rainfall of 66.7 millimetres was recorded in Saadi Town.
According to the Met department, there are more spells forecast on Sunday and Monday under the sway of the monsoon cycle.
Four electrocuted to death in Karachi as heavy rain lashes port city
Karachi: At least four people were electrocuted to death in Karachi as heavy rain and thunderstorms wreaked havoc in the city on Saturday.
According to local media, under the influence of a strong monsoon system, different areas of Karachi are receiving heavy downpours.
As per initial reports, a four-year-old girl died of electrocution in Shah Rasool Colony area of Clifton, while the rest of the three deaths were reported in Baldia Town, Sharifabad and Light House areas.
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported Saadi Town received around 81 millimetres of rain, Gulshan-e-Hadeed 73mm, PAF Base Faisal 70mm, North Karachi 48mm, Surjani Town 38.8mm while 11.6 mm of rain was reported in Orangi Town.
On the other hand, the Met Office has predicted more rain coupled with thunderstorms in Karachi today.
