Islamabad: In a bid to contain the spread of coronavirus, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has decided to extend vacations in educational institutes of Islamabad and 24 districts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa till September (Wednesday).


The NCOC through a notification on Thursday night confirmed that educational institutions would remain closed until September 15 while, the restrictions imposed on gatherings, public transport and gymnasiums had also been extended.
A review, however will be carried out on September 15.
Punjab Education Minister made the announcement today turned to his official twitter handle and wrote, “ANNOUNCEMENT: All Public and Private Schools of Punjab to remain closed until Wednesday, September 15th, 2021. Stay home and stay safe”.

Meanwhile, Sindh government has decided to allow business activities on Fridays while responding to a demand from the traders’ community.
For past several weeks, businesses remained suspended under anti-Covid precautionary measures.
However, Barrister Murtaza Wahab in a statement said that from now onwards the businesses in Karachi would remain closed on Sundays.
A notification issued by the NCOC said that the decision has been taken to extend the Corona restrictions and keep the educational institutions closed till September 15.
The notification said that educational institutions in 24 sensitive districts affected by Corona would remain closed till Wednesday, September 15.
Schools in Punjab were closed down from September 6 for six days and were scheduled to reopen on Monday (September 11).
