Zardari says govt about to make "big blunder"
Islamabad: Former President, Asif Ali Zardari said on Sunday that country is in severe danger, adding that the government can make a "big blunder".
"It has become a necessity to send this government back to home, they can make a big blunder," he asserted in a telephonic conversation with Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Punjab General Secretary, Chaudhry Manzoor. The matter of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) came up during the conversation upon which the PPP co-chairperson said that the opposition alliance is united. "PDM will attack this government from all sides," he predicted.
Pointing towards the ineptitude of the government, Asif Ali Zardari said that the government could put the country in danger which is why PDM will use "successive" options to bring it down. "The next few months are critical for the country's politics," he said in the phone call, emphasizing that the government will not be allowed to hide behind coronavirus pandemic.
The former president pointed out that he had foretold that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led government would collapse under its own weight. "Just one final push is needed now. PPP will join PDM in sending this lot home," he promised.
PDM, an alliance of opposition parties united in efforts to oust the federal government, has hit road blocks of late with internal rifts coming to the forefront. While Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz PML-N) and Maulana Fazlur Rehman of Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) want to take out a long march to the capital, PPP is insisting on using a vote of no-confidence against Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Listing the achievements of the PPP government which was in power from 2008-2013, Asif Ali Zardari said that despite global recession, his party's government increased exports from $19 billion to $26 billion. "Government employees were given 125% raise while pensions were doubled, but this incompetent government has reduced all economic indicators into the negative," he commented.
