‘WhatsApp from Meta’: WhatsApp refreshes branding in new update

San Francisco: After Facebook changed its brand name to ‘Meta’ this week, latest WhatsApp update shows 'WhatsApp from Meta', has replaced 'WhatsApp from Facebook' phrase— reflecting its goal of becoming Metaverse.

Two years ago, WhatsApp has implemented the new footer “WhatsApp from Facebook” in the app, to help people understand that WhatsApp was a Facebook product.

But with version 2.21.220.14, when the user will open the app, it will show ‘WhatsApp from Meta’.

The company also removed the “WhatsApp from Facebook” footer in the settings as well.

According to WABetaInfo, “WhatsApp has developed this feature to help businesses improve their messages to customers”.

Earlier, Facebook announcing the update said, in line with this change, Meta is now changing the in-app branding within its family of apps.

Moreover, the update is not available for WhatsApp’s Android users yet. But given the fact that WhatsApp has started testing the change in its iOS beta app, a similar update should be available within WhatsApp’s Android-based app as well.

When Mark Zuckerberg announced this change and his plan to have 1 billion users in his meta-universe over the next ten years, he said:

“As part of this, it is time for us to adopt a new company brand to cover everything we do. It reflects who we are and what we hope to build. I am proud to announce that our company is now Meta.”
