Karachi: Islamabad United beat Multan Sultan in their opening match by 3 wickets in sixth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Earlier while batting first, Multan Sultan's captain Muhammad Rizwan continued his great form and played the best knock of PSL6 by scoring 71 runs of 53 balls to help Sultans to reach 150/8. Whereas young Muhammad Wasim from United took 3 wickets by giving 29 runs.
Chasing the total, Islamabad started nicely with Phil Salt and Alex Hales giving United a decent start. However, Phil Salt got dismissed at 13 runs and things went down. Shadab Khan was the second man to depart at 43 and Alex Hales followed him soon. United got off to a good start and the match hung in the balance at 55/2 in 7 overs when Afridi trashed the United’s batting line by taking 2 wickets and giving 24 runs with a run-out in his credit.
Faheem Ashraf and Lewis Gregory built a solid stand for their team. Giving the final blow Gregory with his 49* runs from 31 balls finished the job by smashing 19 runs in the penultimate over.
