Islamabad: A suspected cyber-attack has disrupted Pakistan’s supreme tax collection body Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) website on Friday, authorities said.
According to reports, the IT system of Pakistan’s largest data center has once again been disrupted, causing the company's server to shut down.
The website has stopped working, showing an “invalid” error on the google search engine—causing enormous difficulties for tax filers seeking to file their returns online.
People willing to file the tax returns faced problems as the FBR’s portal had crashed.
As per initial reports, efforts were underway to restore the website of the country’s premium tax collection body.
However, the reason behind the non-functionality of the website is yet to be ascertained.
It is pertinent to mention here that this is not the first time that the FBR website has crashed.
In September, FBR tax collection software crashed after taxpayers scrambled to file tax returns on the last day.
