Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and joint candidate of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) for Senate elections, Yousaf Raza Gillani has said that his victory in senate polls will be a win for democracy.

According to details, Gillani met Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman today where both leaders discussed strategy for forthcoming senate elections along with the ongoing political situation in the country.
Speaking to media post meeting, former premier said that he would go to meet all senior leaders of PDM personally.
“I am thankful to opposition for making nominating me a joint candidate PDM. I was even elected a unanimous prime minister with support of all political parties. We have started our campaign for senate polls and so far the response is very encouraging,” he said.
Gillani clarified that no contact has been made with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jahangir Tareen.
Speaking on occasion, Fazlur Rehman expressed satisfaction over Gillani and hoped for his victory in the Senate polls.
“It will be an honor for us if he is elected and becomes chairman of senate. We will fight this battle successfully,” he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that senate elections are scheduled to take place on March 03, 2021.
