Daska by-poll: Returning Officer accepts rigging during votes
Islamabad: NA-75 constituency Returning Officer (RO) Athar Abbasi has submitted a written reply to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding the alleged rigging during the Daska by-election.
According to the written reply submitted to the ECP by the Returning Officer, the RO has accepted that numerous presiding officers were involved in rigging the elections. Further, a difference is seen among the results mentioned on Form-45. A conflict is clearly visible on the forms in possession of PML-N candidate and presiding officers, the RO replied.
According to the results of the presiding officers, the PML-N candidate got 3,500 votes in 23 polling stations whereas Noshin Iftikhar claims to have received 5,000 votes, RO responded.
RO claimed that the presiding officers were involved in forging the results and had asked ECP for re-polling at dubious polling stations.
The PML-N candidate Noshin Iftikhar expressed no confidence on the results of 23 polling stations of NA-75 and claimed that the presiding officers deliberately arrived late and results were counterfeit.
Earlier, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz on Sunday had demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold re-election in NA-75, Daska.
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday also directed PTI candidate from NA-75 to request ECP for re-polling in the 20 polling stations.
