Army chief witnesses exercise; ‘Victory Shield’ of Gujranwala Corps troops
COAS Bajwa stresses realistic, strenuous training in field
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Chanoki near Chawinda, Sialkot on Friday.
The army chief witnessed exercise; ‘Victory Shield’ of Gujranwala Corps troops. He was briefed on objectives, planning parameters and conduct modalities of the exercise which is aimed at enhancing operational preparedness of formation, encompassing defensive and offensive tasks in response to any misadventure by the adversary.
COAS Bajwa expressed satisfaction over training standards and professional competence of the troops.
Addressing the participating troops, COAS Bajwa stressed upon realistic and strenuous training in the field. “Such exercises help bolster troops’ confidence, enhance cohesiveness, synergy and optimise their combat potential, COAS remarked.
Earlier on arrival, COAS was received by Lieutenant General Muhammad Aamer, Commander Gujranwala Corps.
On the other hand, General Qamar Javed Bajwa attended the funeral prayer of former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (JCSC) General (Retired) Shamim Alam Khan.
The funeral prayer of former chairman JCSC was offered at Army Graveyard Rawalpindi. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, Chief of Naval Staff and large number of civil and military officials including senior retired Army officers and relatives of deceased also attended the funeral.
