Unofficial results in KP LG polls: Results for mayoral/chairmanship slots pour in
JUI-F’s Zubair Ali leads with 9471 votes with PTI’s Rizwan Bangash


Peshawar: The vote count is under way after polling for the first phase of local bodies election in 17 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) districts ended.
According to the unofficial results, for Peshawar city mayor election, JUI-F’s Zubair Ali leads with 9471 votes with PTI’s Rizwan Bangash in trails with 6,163 vote. Peshawar’s mayorship is the most coveted and at least 17 candidates competed for this position.
In Peshawar’s Chamkani Tehsil, PTI’s Malik Ghulam Nabi leads with Arbab Omar Khan following closely.
In Nowshera mayor election, PTI’s Ishaq Khattak leads with 4014 votes and his cousin PPP’s Ahad Khattak is left behind with 1600 votes, accoridng to results from 23 polling stations. Ishaq is the son of Defence Minister Pervez Khattak.
For Tank mayoral election, JUIF’s Saddam Hussain leads with PTI’s Ramzan Shori following closely.
In Mardan mayor election ANP’s Himayatullah leads with JUIF’s Amanat Shah in trails.
In Hangu Tehsil chairman election, independent candidate Aamir Ghani leads and is followed by JUIF’s Maulana Qasim.
For Charsadda Tehsil chairman election, JUIF leads with ANP in trails.
Shabqadar Tehsil chairman elections see JUIF’s candidate leading the vote could as ANP trails behind.
In Bajaur’s Nawagai Tehsil, independent candidate Najibullah leads with JI’s Latif Jan following closely.
In Swabi’s Razar Tehsil ANP’s Ghulam Haqqani leads with PTI’s Blund Iqbal in the second place.
For Bannu mayor election, JI’s Yaseen Khan leads with PTI’s Iqbal Jadon in trails.
For Haripur Tehsil chairmanship, independent Samiullah Khan leads with PTI’s Akhtar Nawaz in trails.
The election for the one mayoral seat from Dera Ismail Khan was postponed on Saturday after ANP candidate was shot dead by unidentified gunmen.
According to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the polling process started at 8am and ended at 5pm without any break.
The 17 districts where elections are held include Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Khyber, Mohmand, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Haripur, Buner and Bajaur.
Over 12.668 million registered voters, including 7,015,757 male and 5,653,095 female voters, are deciding the fate of 37,752 candidates contesting for different seats.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has set up more than 9,223 polling stations and nearly 28,892 polling booths have been set up for local government elections, while 4,188 polling stations have been declared sensitive and 2,507 most sensitive.
Over 12.668 million registered voters, including 7,015,757 male and 5,653,095 female voters, would decide the fate of 37,752 candidates contesting for different seats.
Stringent security arrangements have been made in this regard. 77,000 policemen and law-enforcement personnel have been deployed outside polling stations and booths for the security of voters.
CCTV cameras have been installed and booth of these sensitive locations and it is prohibited to carry weapons or electronic devices in all polling stations.
As many as 19,285 for general seats of village, and neighborhood councils, 3,870 for women, 7,428 for farmers and labor, 6,011 for youth and 293 for minorities.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has established a control room in ECP’s Peshawar office to receive polling day complaints.
