Islamabad: Intermittent rains in many parts of the country including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and snowfall on the hills has increased the intensity of cold across Pakistan on Tuesday.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the highest rain of seventy mm was recorded in Pasni area of Balochistan.

The met office spokesperson said the present rain spell will persist over the next two to three days.

In an official statement, the Met Office said that a strong westerly wave is likely to enter western and upper parts of the country which will grip most parts of the country and may persist in different parts during the next three to four days.

The met office has predicted a second spell of winter showers with thunderstorms in Karachi and most parts of Sindh starting tomorrow.

During the period, rains with lightning are expected in various parts of Sindh, including Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Qambar Shahdadkot, Badin, Thatta, Umarkot and Tharparkar.

In the meantime, it rained continuously in Lahore since last night which apparently brought down the level of smog.

This is the first major period of Light rain across the country, especially in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan, during which daytime temperatures can drop.

Moreover, the Met Office called the new weather conditions good for wheat growers across the country.
