Journalist Hussnain Shah murdered over monetary dispute: CCPO

Lahore: Lahore police declared on Saturday that journalist Hussnain Shah was murdered over monetray dispute and that police have already arrested four suspects including prime culprit in the case.

Capital City Police Chief Additional IG Fayyaz Ahmad Dev announced the motive behind the assassination of news channel reporter and arrests during a press conference at District Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh.

"Journalist community is the hand and glove of Lahore police for maintenance of law and order in the city and reform of society, so we are fully committed to provide complete security to the citizens including journalists." 

Sharing details, the city police chief said Hasnain Shah was shot dead in a target killing attempt by unidentified men near Lahore Press Club, Simla Pahari Chowk on January 24.

Lahore Police took prompt action and using using latest technology and professional skill tracked the suspected killers involved in murder and afterwards arrested four of them.

Police also presented the arrested four accused before media during the press conference.

Dev informed reporters that as financial dispute took place between Shah and a gold jeweller Amir Butt, the latter with the help of his brother Shahid Butt and friend Farhan Shah planned to kill Shah.

Farhan arranged four persons including two shooters for the purpose. Amir Butt planned the murder while Haider Shah and Amjad Pasha performed monitoring of movement of the journaist.  

They also provided vehicle and weapons to the shooters as well as identity of Shah. Both the shooters brutally murdered Husnain Shah at Shimla Pahari near Lahore Press Club and fled.

The CCPO Lahore said he constituted three different teams to trace and arrest the criminals, adding DIG Operations Lahore Abid Khan and his team was the first to get the clue to the murderers.

He particularly commended the performance of DIG Operations, SSP Ops and SP City to trace and arrest the accused persons Haider Shah, Amjad Pasha and main planner of the murder Amir Butt. Police afterwards also arrested Farhan Shah.

Fayyaz Ahmad Dev assured reporters of arresting both shooters and along with brother of Amir Butt.

He said Lahore police had traced all high profile cases including shooters of MPA Bilal Yaseen, attackers of FBR Collectors, robbers of Chinese dacoity incident, murderer of Traffic Warden.

Dev said the incidents of reported crimes including dacoity, robbery, illegal possessions, vehicles snatching and theft had reduced to 50 percent according to the helpline 15 call data of PSCA.

Lahore police wouldn't allow goons and law breakers to disturb the city's peace. 

He claimed citizens would hear soon a good news regarding the arrest of accused involved in Anarkali Blast.

He assured media persons of holding transparent investigation and strong prosecution in case of of Husnain Shah.

Media persons and police officers also offered Fateha and prayed for late Hussnain Shah.
