Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the implementation of E-Office could save billions of rupees of national exchequer.

The prime minister said minimizing the use of paper will also have a positive impact on the environment. He expressed these words while chairing an important review meeting regarding the transfer of federal government ministries and institutions to E-Office in Islamabad on Saturday.

The Prime Minister said the main purpose of using E-Office is to provide the best services to the public and to bring transparency in the government system.

He directed to expedite progress on cooperation agreement with Chinese company Huawei.

The meeting was briefed about the E-Office system and the progress on its implementation and reforms.

13 dead, 1464 injured in 1358 road accidents in Punjab in last 24 hours

Lahore:  The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1358 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) in all 37 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.

In these RTCs, 13 people died, whereas 1464 were injured.

Out of these, 686 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 778 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue Medical Teams thus reducing the burden of Hospitals.

The majority (76%) involved Motorbikes, therefore effective enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline are essential to reduce the increasing number of road traffic crashes.

Furthermore, the analysis showed that 808 drivers, 56 underage drivers, 153 pedestrians, and 516 passengers were among the victims of road traffic crashes.

The statistics show that 267 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 293 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 100 in Multan with 107 victims and at third Faisalabad with 85 RTCs and 86 victims.

The details further reveal that 1477 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 1210 males & 267 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 220 were under 18 years of age, 808 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 449 victims were reported above 40 years of age. According to the data 1209 motorbikes, 66 auto-rickshaws, 152 motorcars, 35 vans, 19 passenger buses, 42 trucks and 117 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
