Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister faces arrest in weapons and liquor case

(Web Desk): In a significant development, a local court in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in a case involving the recovery of weapons and liquor.
Senior Civil Judge Mubashir Hassan Chishti presided over the hearing and expressed strong displeasure over Gandapur’s continued absence from court proceedings. The judge also noted the failure to submit Gandapur’s statement under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which is a mandatory part of the trial process.
The court rejected a request submitted by Gandapur’s legal team seeking exemption from personal appearance, citing his official engagements. The defense argued that the Chief Minister was unable to attend due to prior commitments; however, the court found the justification unsatisfactory and proceeded with the legal action.
The judge remarked that the repeated absences of the accused were hampering judicial proceedings. As a result, non-bailable arrest warrants were issued to ensure his presence before the court.
The court has adjourned the hearing until July 19, directing law enforcement agencies to ensure Gandapur's appearance at the next hearing.
