High mountain permit fees increase for climbers

Gilgit: Gilgit-Baltistan government has increased the permit fee of two highest peaks.

The notification stated that the fee per climber has been increased by up to $5,000, while the permit fee for other mountains above 8,000 meters has also been increased from $9,000 to $28,000.

The permit fee for mountain climbing has been fixed at $2500 in autumn and $1500 in winter, while the permit fee for Pakistani climbers has been increased from Rs30,000 to Rs100,000 and the trekking fee for foreigners has been increased from $100 to $300.

A climber will be able to undertake only one mountain adventure on one permit. Separate permits will be required to undertake more than one mountain adventure.

According to the notification, the number of group members should not exceed 20 and the insurance amount for high-altitude porters has been fixed at Rs2 million.

Islamabad: The Cabinet Division has decided to estimate the prices of gifts received in Toshakhana.

The Cabinet Division has invited bids from private estimators till September 30 to estimate the value of the gifts received at the Toshakhana.

According to the media reports, the prices of the gifts of different categories received in the Toshakhana will be estimated and the value of other received gifts including jewellery, watches, and carpets will be ascertained.

The Cabinet Division will contract with the successful appraisers who will be paid the charges for the gift estimates and the formula for payment of the charges has also been formulated.

Marks are also laid down for the appraisers' qualifications based on which they will be selected. State-owned Toshakhana gifts are available for sale only to political officials, the bureaucracy, both civilian and military, and judges of the Supreme Court. But if any gift is left over from the purchase, it is auctioned for public sale.

According to government policy, every gift received must be reported to the government and deposited in the register.

Bail of PTI MNAs approved, immediate release ordered

Islamabad: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Islamabad approved the bail of the arrested Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday.

The court approved the bail of the PTI Members of the National Assembly in all the cases in exchange for Rs30,000 each and ordered their immediate release.

ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain heard the bail applications. The prosecutor took the position that MNA Ahmed Chattha was named in the case. The provisions imposed in the case are a minimum sentence of three years and non-bailable.

Judge inquired whether anything was recovered from Sher Afzal Marwat, Ahmed Chattha, and other members of the National Assembly, to which the prosecutor replied that nothing was recovered.

The arrested MNAs of PTI include Sher Afzal Marwat, Sheikh Waqas, Ahmed Chattha, Aamir Dogar, Yusuf Khan, Naeem Ali Shah, Awais Haider Jakhar, Shah Ahad and Zubair Khan. The cases under terrorism provisions have been registered against PTI MNAs in Sangjani, Tarnool, Noon, and Sambal police stations.
