This year, the theme of the day is "Tobacco's threat to our environment".

Lahore: World No-Tobacco Day is being observed on Tuesday (today) to raise awareness about the damage caused by consuming tobacco and its hazardous effects on health and environment.
This year, the theme of the day is "Tobacco's threat to our environment".
The governmental, non-governmental and community-based organizations have arranged meetings, seminars, webinars, rallies and display posters and banners as part of their awareness campaign in different cities and towns of the country.
Consuming tobacco kills over 8 million people across the world every year. Besides the human cost, consuming tobacco also causes the environment to degrade.
The World Health Organization (WHO) member countries agreed to observe World No-Tobacco Day on May 31 in 1987. Since then, this day is marked each year with a relevant theme.
As per WHO, “The harmful impact of the tobacco industry on the environment is vast and growing adding unnecessary pressure to our planet's already scarce resources and fragile ecosystems”.
