Pakistan Army spokesman terms allegations on social media as baseless propaganda
He was responding to the people's reaction on the statement of former finance minister Shaukat Tarin
Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Army spokesman on Wednesday termed the allegations against armed forces on social media triggered by the statement of former finance minister Shaukat Tarin as baseless propagnda.
A statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the malicious allegations against the institution and its leadership for personal gain were reprehensible.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), "insinuations made by people on social media quoting the former finance minister Shaukat Tarin is baseless propaganda”.
It added that the same has also been duly rebutted by Tarin himself.
The statement said that former finance minister Shaukat Tareen himself has denied the allegations, but some people are making malicious allegations against the institution and its leadership for personal gain which is reprehensible.
According to ISPR, the allegations leveled by senior journalist Shaheen Sehbai and some others in this regard are baseless and the agency reserves the right to take legal action against them.
“Peddling malicious allegations and blatant lies against the institution and its leadership to promote vested interests is condemnable and the institution reserves the right to take legal action against those involved,” warned the army.
The move came in response to a tweet by a journalist on social media claiming that the Tarin was asked to betray PTI Chairman Imran Khan and help Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
