Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, country’s former Prime Minister, has appeared before Islamabad High Court (IHC) in contempt of court case, for his controversial remarks about a female judge during a public rally in Islamabad on August 20.

As per details, a five-member larger bench is hearing the contempt of court case against the former premier, amid strict security measures in and around the premises of the court.

The bench is headed by Chief Justice Athar Minallah and comprises Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri and Justice Babar Sattar.

At the outset of the hearing, IHC Chief Justice Minallah said that Khan faces the charge of criminal contempt of court, terming it ‘serious offense’ than others.

Hamid Khan, Imran Khan's lawyer, started arguments stating that he agrees with the observation given by the court at the last hearing and wants to put precise requests before the court.

Before the proceedings, the court staff installed a projector and a screen following the directives of judges—in courtroom No. 1.

On Wednesday, the PTI leader submitted a second reply to the court after the first was termed “unsatisfactory”.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan appeared before the court in his personal capacity.
