The Simpsons' longtime music editor Chris Ledesma passes away
Chris Ledesma dead at 64 after working on every episode for 33 years since its 1989 premiere.
Chris Ledesma, the longtime music editor of “The Simpsons,” has died. He was 64.
Chris Ledesma, from California, served as the music editor of The Simpsons on every one of its first 734 episodes. He had been with the show since its first season in 1989 and worked on every episode of the show during his 33-year run as music editor until he stepped down in May 2022 due to health reasons.
He worked on over 700 episodes and 30 seasons.
The animated show made a tribute to Ledesma in the latest episode, with a title card that read: “In loving memory of Chris Ledesma”.
Ledesma, was depicted as a cartoon character sitting on the famous Springfield sofa with Homer, Marge, Lisa, Maggie and Bart while holding a conductor’s baton.
A tribute to Ledesma appeared on The Simpson episode “My Life as a Vlog”, which aired on New Year’s Day. It was the 745th program of the hugely popular sitcom.
Dozens of tributes were paid to Ledesma when news of his death broke.
With over 138 credits to his name, Ledesma worked on TV movies and series including “Teen Angel” and “Miracle in the Woods.” He also worked as a music editor for “Robin Hood: Men in Tights.”
He earned two Emmy nominations for his work: in outstanding individual achievement in sound editing for a miniseries or a special on “Gypsy,” and outstanding sound editing for a miniseries or a special for “War and Remembrance”.
