Islamabad: The suspected rapists of F9 park rape case has been shot dead in a crossfire during snap checking set up in Sector D-12, said the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Thursday.
According to the details, the accused were killed after they refused to stop at the checkpoint and opened fire on police officials.
The police spokesperson said the men sustained injuries during the reactive fire, adding that they were caught wounded but later died when they were shifted to the hospital.
They have been identified as Nawab Ali and Iqbal.
As per the police, both criminals had been involved in other crimes despite F-9 park sexual assault case and were wanted in multiple cases of street crimes, while over 60 cases were registered against them.
In February, two armed men allegedly raped a woman in federal capital’s F-9 park at gunpoint. In a CCTV footage, the assailants can clearly be seen entering and leaving the park through the gates.
The female was, reportedly, wandering in the park with her friend before the tragic incident. The suspects approached them, asking them to give their valuables before pushing them to a dense part of the park at gunpoint.
The victim said that the criminals raped her at gunpoint.
She further told that the culprits returned their stuff with 1000/-Rs and warned her not to visit the park after sunset.
