SC to hear Punjab-KP polls delay case today
Court has summoned Secretary Finance and Secretary Defense today.
Islamabad: Supreme Court of Pakistan Monday will hear the case of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa elections today again at 11:30am, GNN reported.
According to details, three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umer Ata Bandial comprising of Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan and Justice Muneeb Akhtar. The bench was dissolved twice after Justice Mandukhel and Justice Aminuddin earlier rescued themselves from hearing the case.
Court has summoned Secretary Finance and Secretary Defense today.
On the other hand, the coalition government had decided to boycott the proceedings of the Supreme Court if the full court is not formed.
It expressed no confidence in the three-member bench and the Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan will appear in the court today and inform about the government's decision to boycott.
Police, FC and Rangers forces have been deployed outside the court. Large number of lawyers have also reached Supreme Court to show solidarity with CJP.
Irrelevant people are strictly prohibited in the premises of the court. Only journalists and lawyers whose cases are to be heard in the court would be allowed to enter.
Court has also issued the order of March 31 hearing of election delay case.
