ICT police seek resource to provide security for NZ team
Police officials stated that the required security resources are the responsibility of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Islamabad: Federal Capital Islamabad’s police requested the Ministry of Interior to provide resources for the security of New Zealand cricket team during their visit to Pakistan for Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) series.
Police officials stated that the required resources have not been provided which is the responsibility of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). It revealed that the board has been briefed on the security situation ahead of the team’s arrival.
According to Police, the officials have been deployed at free flour supply points and digital census. Therefore, the Interior Ministry should provide resources, if not they will provide security to the team.
On the other hand, the T20 squad of the New Zealand cricket team has left for the Pakistan tour from Christchurch.
The foreign team will play a series of five T20 matches during the tour of Pakistan. The initial matches will be played in Lahore on April 14, 15 and 17.
Moving to Rawalpindi, the team will play two T20Is on April, 20 and 24. While the first two One Day International (ODIs) will be played on April 26 and 29 in Rawalpindi also.
The remaining three ODIs will be in Karachi on May 3, 5 and 7.
