Govt, PTI on negotiation table for elections date
PTI demanded the dissolution of National Assembly (NA) if government wants simultaneous elections.
Islamabad: Government representatives and leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) started table talk to negotiate about the date for elections as per directions of Supreme Court, GNN reported.
According to details, a meeting was organized on Thursday in committee room of Parliament House where Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, Railway Minister Saad Rafique, leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Yousaf Raza Gilani, Naveed Qamar, and Kishwar Zahra were part of government delegation.
While Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhry and Ali Zafar were the representatives of PTI.
The team of government said that PTI chief Imran Khan should leave his stubbornness and be flexible for the sake of country. Responding to which PTI leaders said sticking with the constitution is not stubbornness.
Today (Friday) will be the second sitting for negotiations at 3:00pm in which PTI leaders will present its demands.
In yesterday’s meeting PTI demanded the dissolution of National Assembly (NA) if government wants simultaneous elections.
Leader of PTI stated: “The resigned PTI Members of National Assembly (MNAs) should be restored,” adding that their party should get the position of opposition.
Government has asked PTI to present the list of its demands in writing in today’s sitting. Both parties had discussion in a pleasant manner,
After meeting while talking to media, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) representative Yousaf Raza Gilani and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar told that there is no demand from government’s side. We will present our strategy at PTI’s demands.
Ishaq Dar said: “we need to resolve the matters as per constitution keeping view the benefit of state and nation”.
PTI leader Shah Mehmood said we need to find a way forward through negotiations. No solution can bypass constitution.
