At least 13 died, 25 others injured in tragic bus accident near Kallar Kahar

Kallar Kahar: In a devastating incident on Saturday, a bus accident on the Islamabad-Lahore motorway near Kallar Kahar resulted in the loss of at least 13 lives, while 25 individuals sustained injuries, according to officials from the rescue and police departments.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Farooq Ahmed confirmed the toll and expressed concerns that the number of casualties could rise further.

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) released a statement indicating that preliminary reports suggested the accident occurred due to brake failure. The bus, en route from Islamabad to Lahore, was involved in the tragic incident.

Efforts are underway to provide immediate assistance to the injured, who are being swiftly transferred to a nearby hospital for necessary medical treatment.

The NHMP statement revealed that personnel from the department, under the supervision of DIG (Motorway) Mohammad Yusuf Malik and the sector commander, Commander Nafri, are actively engaged in rescue activities at the accident site.

As a result of the accident, two sections of the motorway have been temporarily closed, while one section remains open to facilitate traffic movement.
