Downpours claim lives across the country, death toll reaches 21

The recent heavy rains in various parts of the country have resulted in tragic incidents, claiming the lives of 9 more individuals, bringing the total death toll to 21 in just two days.

Several others have sustained injuries.

According to reports, torrential downpours have caused major highways, including those in Lahore, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to be submerged in water.

In a devastating incident, eight members of a single family were trapped after the roof of their dilapidated house collapsed due to rain in Kamoke.

Local residents managed to retrieve the bodies of a mother and two daughters.

The deceased include 2-year-old Noor Fatima, 13-year-old Maryam, and 50-year-old Hajra Bibi.

Similarly, in Lahore's Chungi Amar Sidhu area, four individuals lost their lives when the roof of a house caved in due to heavy rainfall.

Rescue authorities managed to rescue one person from the debris.

In another incident, the wall of Muzang Hospital in Lahore collapsed due to rain, resulting in injuries to 15 individuals.

Hospital authorities have confirmed that the wall adjoining the hospital compound collapsed, causing damage to the waiting shed.

Meanwhile, in Sheikhupura Sharif, tragedy struck as a motor running in water during the rain resulted in the deaths of a grandfather and grandson.

Rescue authorities have transferred the bodies of the deceased to the DHQ Hospital.
