Eight dacoits Killed in shootout in Kashmore's Katcha area

Kashmore: Kashmore police reported a significant development on Friday, stating that eight dacoits were killed during a shootout in the katcha area of the district.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amjad Ali Shaikh, the encounter occurred when the dacoits were attempting to enter Sindh's katcha area from Punjab. The police engaged them in the encounter, resulting in their demise.

Janu Indhar, the leader of the notorious Indhar gang were among those killed during the shootout.  He was wanted by the authorities for heinous crimes, including dacoities, kidnappings for ransom, and murders. A substantial reward of Rs10 million was set for his capture.

The police had been conducting a search operation in the area to combat the menace of dacoit gangs. This incident marked a significant blow to the criminal activities prevalent in the region.

In related efforts to tackle banditry in the katcha areas, the Sindh government had previously authorized a military operation. Provincial minister Mir Shabbir Bijarani confirmed that the operation would involve military troops, Rangers personnel, and the Sindh police working together to combat bandits in the katcha area of Shikarpur.
