Lahore: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has forecasted light to heavy rainfall in different cities of Punjab during the first week of August.
According to the PDMA, cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sahiwal, and Sialkot may experience showers in the upcoming month.
The recent rainfall has already filled Mangla Dam to 84% capacity and Tarbela Dam to 85%.
PDMA spokesperson also mentioned that within the next 24 hours, cities such as Rawalpindi, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Sialkot could also receive rainfall.
Between the 4th and 6th of August, there is a concern about potential flooding in the River Jhelum at the Mangla site.
On the other hand, due to Monsoon rains, River Sutlej's water flow has further intensified, causing the breach of the Sulemanki Barrage near Pakpattan.
Subsequently, thousands of acres of crops and nearly 50 villages have been submerged.
Rescue personnel are actively involved in evacuating stranded individuals from the affected areas.
