Govt will have no choice but to impose lockdown if situation worsens, says Fawad on coronavirus pandemic
Karachi: The Information Minister has said that government will have no other option but to impose lockdown if coronavirus situation continues to deteriorates.
While speaking to media in Karachi alongside Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, Fawad Chaudhry said that government is keenly observing the pandemic situation and strict measures would be taken in case positivity ratio increases.
Responding to a question, the information minister said that Prime Minister's upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia will further strengthen relations between the two brotherly countries.
“The economic cooperation between the two countries will be further expanded as a result of the visit,” he added.
Referring to the complaints against the staff of Pakistan's embassies across the world, he said that Prime Minster has taken serious notice of the matter and inquiry has been ordered.
Strongly condemning the statement of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman, in which he claimed that “we are not capable of fighting for 24 hours”, Fawad said that Maulana has given an extremely irresponsible statement about security institutions.
“Attacking state institutions for political reasons is highly reprehensible. Nation has full confidence in the capabilities of Pakistan's armed forces, and it is standing by its armed forces steadfast,” he added.
