Karachi: Incumbent Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and the opposition leader Rana Ansar are scheduled to convene a meeting today to discuss and finalize the selection of the caretaker chief minister for Sindh.

The sources familiar with the matter, however, revealed that Mubeen Jumani, a prominent industrialist, is emerging as a strong contender for the position of caretaker chief minister of Sindh.

The sources said that Mubeen Jumani garnered widespread support from various quarters.

Another notable candidate under consideration for leading the interim administration in Sindh is Retired Justice Maqbool Baqir.

Additionally, individuals such as Younus Dhaga and Shoaib Siddiqui were also being deliberated upon as potential candidates.

A recent meeting between Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and opposition leader Rana Ansar concluded without a definitive outcome on Sunday.

Today marks the concluding phase of consultations between Shah and Rana Ansar in their quest to nominate the caretaker chief minister.

The insiders revealed that during the previous session, both Murad Ali Shah and Rana Ansar put forth their respective nominations for the position of caretaker chief minister and agreed to consult with their respective party leaderships.

Commenting on the selection process for the interim administration in Sindh, Murad Ali Shah expressed optimism, stating that multiple names were discussed, and a consensus is expected to be reached by midnight.

He mentioned that in the past two instances, a decision was reached on the final day of consultations.
