General elections to be held on time to continue democratic process: Sanjrani
The Senate chairman says Pakistan is much better than many countries in the world and blessed with resources.
Karachi: Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani visited Mazaar-e-Quaid in Karachi on Saturday, laid floral wreath and offered Fateha.
Later, talking to media, he said Pakistan is much better than many countries in world and blessed with resources.
He said caretaker set up in the country came after consultation with all stakeholders and political forces.
To a question, he said there should be no surprise on caretaker Prime minister from Balochistan Awami Party as it was the largest party in outgoing Balochistan assembly.
Earlier, the federal cabinet, in its maiden meeting, assured the Election Commission of Pakistan of all possible assistance and cooperation to ensure free, fair and transparent elections in the country.
Briefing media in Islamabad this afternoon about decisions taken by the federal cabinet, Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi said the interim government was committed to comply with the directions of the Election Commission for transferring and posting of any individual, necessary to hold free and fair elections.
The Minister said he held a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja and conveyed him the will and resolve of the cabinet in ensuring transparent polls in the country.
The Minister further expressed resolve and determination of the caretakers to abide by their oath and discharge their responsibilities as per law and the Constitution. He said revamping economy is the top priority of the caretaker government.
Condemning the Jaranwala incident, Murtaza Solangi said the state of Pakistan is standing by its minority communities as all citizens have equal rights as per law and the Constitution of the country. He said the cabinet emphasized on promoting Sufism in the country.
