Life-saving medicines extremely expensive in Pakistan
New prices have been set for blood pressure and blood vessel dilators.
Islamabad: The prices of life-saving medicines in Pakistan have also increased. The new prices of blood pressure and blood vessel opening pills have been announced.
According to details, the government has fixed the maximum price of 25 medicines and the prices of many life-saving medicines have also been increased.
After the approval of federal government, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has issued a notification for the new prices of various medicines.
According to the notification, these medicines include injections, pills, inhalers, syrups for various diseases, while the prices of new salts, formulations, strength medicines have also been fixed.
Apart from this, new prices have been set for blood pressure and blood vessel dilators.
According to the notification, the price of Lorica, a newly registered drug for cancer treatment, has been fixed at Rs8,46,857. While the price of inhaler for asthma patients is Rs1390.
The price of hepatitis injection has been increased to settle at Rs10,275, while the new price of 20 tablets of paracetamol and deephydralin is Rs192. Chloroquine used in malaria will be sold at a new cost of Rs1007.
The price of injectable bortezomib for cancer patients is Rs17,513 and the price of drug used in infection is Rs15,356.
