The PIA committed to pay Rs 2 billion in Federal Excise Duty obligations due in August but broke its word.

Karachi: The national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has failed to clear the salary dues of its employees due to the severe financial crisis
According to sources, the PIA employees are still not receiving their salaries from August. Due to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) freeze of bank accounts, the national airline is currently experiencing multiple financial crises.
The PIA spokesperson claimed that the federal government in charge had committed to pay the airline. The official noted that salaries for PIA staff members would be paid out in a week.
The finances of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the country's flag airline, were frozen by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in August due to the non-payment of more than Rs 8 billion in taxes.
Due to the non-payment of approximately Rs 8 billion in unpaid taxes, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has suspended the bank accounts of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). The national carrier's 26 bank accounts have been frozen.
According to the FBR, the PIA committed to pay Rs 2 billion in Federal Excise Duty obligations due in August but broke its word.
The PIA spokesperson made it clear that the bank account closure won't have an impact on the airline's flight schedule.
