Lahore: National Cricketer Shadab Khan recently provided a candid assessment of his recent performance, particularly in the realm of bowling.

Shadab Khan acknowledged a recent dip in his form and attributed it to the mental toll of constant cricket.

“My recent form hasn't been up to par, but I had the opportunity to get some much-needed rest after the Asia Cup. Playing a lot of cricket without performing can take a toll on your mental state. Although the skills are there, the essential rest has helped me overcome the mental barriers. What's done is done, and I'm focused on moving forward,” said the cricketer in an interview on Sunday.

Shadab Khan also offered his insights into the form of his teammate, Fakhar Zaman, describing him as a significant player who, while not always consistent, has a considerable impact on the team's performance. He noted Fakhar's three centuries this year, all leading to victories, and expressed unwavering support for him.

Discussing the playing conditions in India, Shadab drew parallels with those in Pakistan and mentioned that even the recent warm-up match felt reminiscent of playing in Rawalpindi.

“The conditions in India have been quite similar to those in Pakistan so far. Even during the recent warm-up match, it felt like we were playing in Rawalpindi,” he remarked.

“I think the eventual champion of this World Cup will be a formidable bowling side,” said Shadab, adding that the conditions in India typically feature flat tracks and short boundaries.

He stated that with their world-class bowlers, he is confident that their bowling unit must perform exceptionally well to secure the championship.

Looking ahead to the ICC World Cup 2023, Shadab emphasized that due to the flat pitches and small boundaries in India, a strong bowling unit would likely emerge as the champions.
