FIA submits reply against PTI Prohibited Funding Case

Karachi: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted its response to the petitions of former Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and others in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prohibited funding case.

According to details, Sindh High Court (SHC) heard the petitions of former Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and others against the FIA inquiry.

The Deputy Attorney General said that the FIA wants to file a case but the injunction has affected the proceedings.

Court said to the Deputy Attorney General that they should complete the inquiry soon and will consider the issue of injunction at the next hearing.

The Sindh High Court adjourned the hearing on the petitions till December 06.

FIA's response

In its reply submitted, FIA said that controversial bank accounts were being operated by the petitioners, an inquiry was started based on the decision of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The reply said that a five-member FIA team is investigating in Karachi, there is also a bank account in Karachi in the name of PTI Media Center Karachi.

Appeal to court against FIA notice

Najeeb Haroon, Seema Zia, Samar Khan and Javed Umar approached the court against the FIA notice.

It has been contended in the petition that the three bank accounts on which the inquiry is being conducted against the petitioners have been closed, the illegal inquiry was initiated against the petitioners due to malice.

It has been requested in the petition that the call-up notice issued by the FIA be declared null and void. The inquiry initiated by the FIA against the petitioners be terminated and the FIA should be restrained from issuing any order pending the final decision of the application.
