World Bank nods to provide $150 million to Pakistan

An annual saving of 291.65 billion rupees has been estimated from the implementation of the project.

Washington DC: The World Bank has agreed to provide 150 million dollars to Pakistan for energy sector projects.

According to the documents released, Pakistan will get 132.5 million dollars as a loan for the energy sector project. The World Bank will also provide one and a half million dollars as a grant to Pakistan.

According to media reports, the aim of the project is to improve and protect the efficiency of the energy sector. Under the program, commercial, industrial and residential buildings will be shifted from gas to electricity. An annual saving of 291.65 billion rupees has been estimated from the implementation of the project.

According to the documents, construction of energy efficient buildings will be encouraged with the promotion of private sector investment in the energy sector
