Karachi: Despite the global observance of World Polio Day, Pakistan, along with Afghanistan, remains one of the last strongholds of the polio virus.

In a recent case that emerged in Sindh, concerns among experts have deepened.

Polio, a highly contagious viral disease that can lead to paralysis and even death in children under the age of 5, continues to affect Pakistan.

The country has seen four cases of polio this year, raising concerns over incomplete immunization, lack of awareness, and government inaction.

One alarming fact is that nearly 30 percent of children do not receive full immunization, leaving them vulnerable to the polio virus.

Recent discoveries of the polio virus in environmental samples across multiple districts in Pakistan, including Karachi, highlight the potential for further spread.
