11 killed, several injured as fire engulfs Karachi shopping mall

Karachi: In an unfortunate incident, 11 people have been killed while several sustained the injuries as fire engulfed the shopping mall located on Rashid Minhas Road in Karachi.

According to the details, fire in the shopping mall at Johar Mor area of Karachi has not been controlled even after three hours.

The officials stated as a result of fire in a shopping mall located on Rashid Minhas Road in Karachi, the number of people killed has increased to five, while several people were injured due to burns, who were shifted to nearby hospitals.

It is also reported that several people were injured in the fire incident while dozens of shops in the shopping center were also burnt.

According to the rescue spokesperson, seven people were rescued in a state of unconsciousness, 30 to 35 people came out of the building helping themselves, while efforts are on to rescue more trapped people.

Two more fire tenders and a snorkel were rushed to the spot to douse the fire while some people were reported to be trapped inside the building.

According to the rescue sources, the fire started due to the generator placed on the roof. The rescue operations are facing difficulties due to the smoke filling the upper floor of the building.

The fire brigade officials said that two people trapped in the building have been rescued. The sound of explosions are coming from the glass breaking due to the fire. The fire has spread to the fourth, fifth and sixth floors. A total of six fire brigade vehicles and two fire engines are in action to extinguish the fire.
