NEPRA prepares to raise prices in electricity
As per the government guidelines, the quarterly adjustment will be applicable to the electricity consumers as well.
Islamabad: Preparations have been made to drop another lightning bomb on people already burdened by inflation and heavy electricity bills.
According to the details, the electricity distribution companies have submitted a request to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for the quarterly adjustment from October to December 2023, to increase the cost of electricity across the country.
Moreover, a request has been made to recover 75billion Rs in terms of capacity charges and 10billion Rs in terms of damages.
The hearing on the application of electricity distribution companies will be held on February 14. After the application is approved, an additional burden of Rs. 81billion is likely to be transferred to the electricity consumers.
As per the government guidelines, the quarterly adjustment will be applicable to the electricity consumers as well.
