Petition to nullify elections filed in SC Lahore Registry
The petitioner requested that an inquiry should be ordered as per the law by involving all the officers related to the election.
Lahore: A petition has been filed in Supreme Court Lahore Registry to investigate the alleged rigging in General Election 2024.
According to the petition filed by citizen Mian Shabir Ahmed, Election Commissioner and others have been made parties.
The petition took a stand that the general elections in 2024 have been rigged across the country and the relevant government officials themselves have admitted it. Therefore, the election should be declared null and void.
The lawyer of the petitioner requested that an inquiry should be ordered as per the law by involving all the officers related to the election and the alleged rigging in the election should be investigated in the light of the fundamental rights of the citizens.
It is pertinent to note that earlier a petition to declare the general elections invalid was filed in the Supreme Court. However, yesterday at the beginning of the hearing it was revealed that the petition has been withdrawn to which the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa said that he will hear the case and the applicant has to be presented before the court.
