Anti-polio campaign across Punjab, Sindh starts today
The campaign launched across Sindh, more than 70,000 teams will administer polio drops to more than 10 million children.
Lahore: The second anti-polio campaign of the year has started in Punjab, including Lahore in which 23.3 million children will be administered polio drops.
According to the details, 200,000 workers are participating in the second national anti-polio campaign, while the target is to vaccinate 23.3 million children.
Khizr Afzal, head of Punjab anti-polio program, said that every child must be vaccinated to eliminate the virus, parents should cooperate the polio teams.
He further said that there is a decrease in positive environmental patterns. Punjab is free of polio cases from 2020, the virus can re-enter Punjab due to population transportation. To prevent the virus on internal, external routes, the drops are being administered, polio workers are an asset to the program.
Sindh
On the other hand, under the Sindh Health Department, anti-polio campaign has been started across the province from today, which will continue till March 3.
During the anti-polio campaign, about 10.6 million children under the age of five years will be administered polio vaccine drops. Children aged six months to five years will be given extra doses of vitamin-A to boost their immunity.

Polio is an incurable disease that can be prevented only through vaccination. Compared to previous years, countless environmental samples of polio virus have been found from all over the country, including Sindh.
The Sindh government has requested the parents and teachers to cooperate with polio teams for the future of their children.
