Pro-Palestine protester questions German envoy over rights’ speech in Lahore
The protester says Germany is taking action against the voices being raised for Israeli war in Gaza, its ambassador is here to talk about the human rights.
Lahore: Amidst a civil rights conference in Lahore, German Ambassador Alfred Grannas faced disruption from a student protesting Germany's stance on Palestinian rights.
The interruption sparked chants of "Free, Free Palestine" from the audience.
Following the incident, the Progressive Students Collective criticized the ambassador's perceived indifference. Grannas later resumed his speech, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding human dignity in fundamental rights.
He commended Pakistan's judiciary for its proactive interpretation of the law.
The conference, initiated in 2018 after Asma Jahangir's passing, aims to honor her legacy by discussing key issues like judicial independence and freedom of expression.
