Karachi:  The federal government implemented an increase in fast-track passport fees, the sources familiar with the development said on Tuesday.

The citizens would now need to allocate an additional Rs2,500 for the essential travel document over a span of five years.

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports issued a comprehensive notification outlining the necessary details for citizens to obtain passports.

According to the updated fee structure, fast-track passports would now range between Rs12,500 and Rs32,000.

In adherence to the revised rates, the fee for a 36-page passport, valid for five years and expedited through the fast-track process, has been elevated by Rs2,500 to Rs12,500. Additionally, citizens will now pay Rs23,000 for a ten-year validity 36-page passport.

Moreover, the fee for a 10-year machine-readable passport with 36 pages is established at Rs16,200, while a 10-year machine-readable passport with 72 pages is priced at Rs25,200. Similarly, a 10-year machine-readable passport with 100 pages is now available for Rs32,000.

Previously, on March 7, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports had announced a significant surge in passport fees, with citizens obligated to pay an extra 50 percent for both ordinary and urgent passports.
