Canada secure first victory in ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024
Ireland failed to chase the target set by Canada in the 13th match of ICC T20 World Cup match in New York today
New York: In the 13th match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, Canada achieved their first victory of the tournament by defeating Ireland by 12 runs on Friday.
Ireland's captain Paul Stirling won the toss and opted to field, inviting Canada to bat first.
Canada, batting first, posted a total of 137 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Nicholas Curtin led the scoring with 49 runs, followed by Shreyas Movva with 37, Pargat Singh with 18, and Aaron Johnson with 14 runs.
For Ireland, Craig Young and Barry McCarthy each took 2 wickets, while Mark Adair and Gareth Delany picked up one wicket apiece.
This match marked the second game for both teams in the tournament. In their previous matches, Ireland was defeated by India, while Canada lost to the USA.
